Reinventing our classic!
Since 2011, the Biskaya has been the sporty model among our sea kayaks. This particularly fast and slim kayak is maneuverable and extremely agile, especially when riding over the edge—which is child's play thanks to the slim, strongly rounded U-frame. The second-generation Biskaya, now available in seven sizes instead of three, is more than ever a sporty all-rounder. We have optimized its straight-line stability a little, which pays off on long tours and trips, but does not compromise its agility. In addition, the sterns are raised slightly, which has a positive effect when surfing and breaking through waves.
The Biskaya 75 and 85 are designed more for advanced paddlers who don't want to compromise on the speed of their kayak – even if this comes at the expense of maneuverability and initial stability. But ambitious beginners shouldn't be put off by the sportiness of the hull.
If you want to enjoy the Biskaya feeling in a slightly “milder” form, the 80, 90 and 100 models are just right for you.
Cockpit: We install our Z-cockpit in all Biskaya models from size 75 upwards. This is a few centimeters longer than the original X-cockpit, making it easier to get in and out, especially for those with long legs. In contrast, for the smaller sizes 55 and 65, we continue to use the X-cockpit, which has proven itself with smaller paddlers, so that the bow and day storage compartment remain easily accessible from the cockpit.
Steering: The Biskaya is available with either a Lettmann steering skeg or a kayaking skeg. On request, we can also convert the Lettmann steering skeg into a skeg with an adapter if a steering function is not required. This gives you all the options: you can paddle your kayak with a skeg or convert it back to a rudder if necessary.
Which Biskaya for whom?
The Biskaya 75/80 and 85/90 appeal to paddlers of the same size. We make no secret of this. Anyone who fits in a 75 will also fit in an 80, and anyone who feels comfortable sitting in an 85 will feel the same in a 90.
The numbers in the boat names represent the optimal rider weight (+/- 15 to 20 kg).
Take it sporty, try the Biskaya 2.0 – the ultimate all-rounder for training sessions, day trips or travel.
